Painting on Ceramic
Learn the traditional art of overglaze ceramic painting with Maria Cristina Contu. Students paint on white-glazed ceramics, where the slightly powdery surface allows colours to adhere perfectly before firing.
After firing, each piece becomes smooth, luminous, and uniquely hand-painted. This technique allows for fine details, delicate brushwork, and subtle colour variations.
Maria Cristina guides students through every step — from pigments and brushes to understanding how heat transforms colour. No experience is required, just curiosity and a love of creativity.

we are
My lifelong aspiration has been to spread happiness and cheer, a passion that has shaped my vibrant decade-long career in the hospitality industry following my studies in art in Italy. Drawing inspiration from my mother's art studio, I have merged food and beverage into Mediterraneart Itd, guiding us to create exceptional and exclusive events that honour both artistic and culinary experiences, in London and in Sardinia.
Creating has been a lifelong journey for me, driven by a passion that not only enables me to flourish as a painter but also inspires my daughters, who are both actively involved in the arts. From Oil, to pencils and painting on ceramic my career as artist is rich and varied.
As a Waldorf teacher, I adopt a gentle and personalised approach with my students, ensuring that everyone feels welcomed and supported, with no one left behind.

Our Story
Founded 30 years ago by the painter Cristina Contu, Mediterranea A&D was not just a Ceramic and Art Studio, but the biggest impact in Rossella's heart, leading her to replicate her mother's studio and with it shape her life style once and for all. At Mediterraneart we are dedicated to encourage creativity through private and public art lessons, events and unique retreats in Sardinia.
Embracing Waldorf teaching methods, we inspire individuals to explore their artistic talents while building a supportive community in our private studio.
