Maria Cristina Contu
Biography
My name is Maria Cristina Contu and I am a painter.
I was born in Escalaplano, Sardinia,
the 22nd of June 1970.

I graduated from at the Art School in the 1989 and moved to Rome to continue my studies.

In 1990 I launched my first and very successful Exhibition at "Il Colore" Art Gallery, with sixty Oil and Tempera paintings along with pencil drawing.

My interest in colour and art techniques took me to Caltagirone and Palermo, in Sicily, where I've mastered the Techniques of Pottery Decoration with some of the best art teachers.

In 1994 I opened my first Art Studio.
Still fascinated by pottery I've enrolled myself at School of Arts of Romano Ranieri, who has been a life guide and a great Mestro.
I attended his Ceramic Painting courses for over 10 years.

With my three children's birth, along with a group of other parents, in Cagliari we founded a kindergarten that, through Waldorf Pedagogy, brought me deeply into Rudolf Stainer's studies.
I been attending Training and Courses such as NPY - Business organisation, Stone & Clay Sculpture with Renzo Rastrelli,
two-year advanced training in Designing Pedagogy Spaces.

With the enormous pedagogical knowledge gained through Waldorf studies, I elevated my teaching to another level when I began to teach and transmit my love for art to people with disabilities, such as my students from the "Peter Pan" association where I worked from 2011 to 2019.
During many summers, my garden has become the cradle of artistic events, masterclasses
and courses with the most variegate students.

I am now in London, since the 2020, where I paint, teach and enjoy the company of my daughters.
